... And You May Only Be One Small Speed-Bump Away From a Relationship Crisis ... and Then it's Usually Too Little, Too Late!
Technical skills, best practices, and following standards won't solve most of your relationship challenges.
Successful leaders know it's ALL about relationships.
And when relationships aren't where they should be, being a leader in a medium to large organization can be really challenging.
I understand, since I've been in your shoes multiple times.
If you are like most leaders:
You are not alone in having these thoughts, since I hear these same things from most internal audit leaders I work with.
The good thing ... all of these can be overcome when you have acquire the knowledge and skills, and then apply and practice the necessary leadership principles that make you a relationship ninja, so it's very easy for you to get exactly what you want from your career and life.
Principles like: strategy, rapport, relevance, influence, culture, delegation, coaching / training, motivation, mindset, habits, emotional intelligence, and resilience.
To be an effective leader, you need to be proficient in all of these principles, and they are easy to master for anyone who leads or manages others.
Have fully considered what a relationship crisis would cost you?
What if you are only one small speed bump away from having a relationship crisis?
If you are the kind of leader who is committed to your personal and professional growth, then keep on reading…
“When dealing with people, remember you are not dealing with creatures of logic, but creatures of emotion.”
— Dale Carnegie
As you already know, everything in life ultimately comes down to the quality of your relationships ... and relationships take time and effort.
You've been trained to be analytical, logical, systematic, and disciplined, but these skills actually make developing relationships more difficult.
These skills make you seem like a robot to others in your organization.
The desire to always follow the standards and be seen as independent and objective is usually perceived by others as being arrogant or self righteous ... not the traits for developing relationships with other human beings, right?
It's no wonder you have resistance from stakeholders when they see you as an outsider and not a team player.
You've been trained on the technical skills of auditing, but these don't teach you how to motivate and develop your staff.
Knowing how to select a statistical sample for testing, or planning an audit doesn't prepare you for the tough conversations you need to have with your staff or stakeholders.
And it's not your fault.
The internal audit profession is pushing the standards and telling people we are independent, objective, unique and valuable to an organization because of our technical knowledge, but that is a broken model that just doesn't work in an age of emotional intelligence and influence.
Do you trust someone just because they have a certification, a fancy title, or wear a uniform?
Of course not, since those things aren't what really matter in human relationships. Human beings are emotional beings and leaders skilled in psychology and emotional intelligence perform better.
“What really matters for success, character, happiness and life long achievements is a definite set of emotional skills – your EQ — not just purely cognitive abilities that are measured by conventional IQ tests.” — Daniel Goleman
Successful executive who are trusted by their peers know it all comes down to how well you manage relationships with your stakeholders, your staff, and your self.
It takes much more than reading a few leadership books. You actually have to get in the water to learn how to swim. Having one or two puzzle pieces doesn't give you the full picture.
Most people think if they read a few books they have the knowledge to do anything. But that's like reading a book and then jumping in the pool think you "know" how to swim. You don't learn to swim until you practice what you learn.
Having one or two puzzle piece is not enough to create the full picture. Successful leaders know they need to follow a methodology and master many different skills to be proficient and become unconsciously competent.
There are 12 points of focus in the ELP Leadership ModelTM with many skills for each that you need to master to become a black-belt in relationship management.
It may seem like a lot to take it, but when you break it down into weekly topics you study and then practice it becomes very simple.
The real question is whether you are willing to invest the time and effort to master these principles:
I'm sure you see how easy it will be for you to get exactly what you want from your career and life when you incorporate these, and how much it could cost you if you don't.

Learn how to use the six principles of influence to reduce and avoid resistance from Jason Mefford and Brian Ahearn, Chief Influence Officer of Influence People and one of only 20 certified trainers in the world on the Cialdini Influence Methodology.
Never heard of the Cialdini Method?
You should, since Robert Cialdini literally wrote THE BOOK on influence: Influence: The Psychology of Persuasion which has sold over 3,000,000 copies and has been translated into 30 languages.
Learn exactly how to deal with difficult people from Jason Mefford and Dr. Rick Brinkman, who is the coauthor or author of 6 McGraw Hill books, including: Dealing with People You Can't Stand: How to Bring Out the Best in People at Their Worst which has sold over 2,000,000 copies and has been translated into 25 languages.
Yep, you read that right. Over 2,000,000 books means Dr. Brinkman is one of the best in the world at what he does.
How much more effective would you be in your ability to influence and deal with difficult people if you could learn from two of the top experts in the world on these topics, right?
If you aren't getting the results you want, the root cause has nothing to do with your technical skills, it is from not effectively managing stakeholders, self, or staff.
Problem is ... the traditional path to internal audit leadership roles doesn't provide you with a methodology or model to prepare you.
Successful executives know their success or failure comes down to how well they manage relationships.
Mastering relationships also improves your confidence and elevates your team and your career.
And ... they don't just improve your confidence and elevate your team, but they also make your job much easier and more satisfying.
Skills like: mindset, habits, emotional intelligence, resilience, strategy, rapport, relevance, influence, culture, delegation, coaching / training, and motivation, are just the starting point.
To be an effective executive, you need to be proficient in all of these areas.
Knowing is not the same as doing.
Without a structured executive leadership program you are left all alone to use self motivation and trial and error to figure out what works, and what doesn't work.
And I'm sure you realize, no matter how motivated you may think you are, 92% of people give up and don't do the work using self-motivation alone.
How many times have you set new year's resolutions and then stopped after two or three weeks?

Leaders who think they don't need any help tend to find that things are fine, until they are not ... and by then it's usually too little, too late. I know you aren't like that.
You are someone who is willing to invest in yourself and take control of your career, aren't you?
Leaders who don't invest in themselves find they are pushed to the back of the line, when everyone else is progressing.
And I know you aren't one of those leaders, right?
When you work the program, you will get results.
But, don't take my word for it.
"I have used many coaches and mentors over the years. The ideas and value I received in one call with Jason Mefford, was worth more than all of the other coaches and mentors I have used combined." AJ
These are principles I have been using with other executives I coach one-on-one, who have seen incredible results.
And now, I'm making them available to you in a convenient format that you can work on in just 30 minutes a week.
Brief, just like the title ...

You can't even buy a fancy coffee drink or hamburger with that, but you can get access to a leadership program that will transform your life and your career.
Are you ready to take your career to the next level?
Are you willing to invest the time and $3 to transform your life and career?
